This fragment of email tells of yet another traumatic consequence: internal refugees. People displaced within their own country and forced to live in tents as winter takes a grip on Baghdad. What it does not speak to, probably out of modesty, is how this writer's family has taken in refugees so that they could have a roof over their heads. It is not a rare act. There is a hospitality in Iraqi culture which cuts through a lot of crap. There is a body of people who have remained calm through the violence of the few against the many.
in Baghdad it is cold but Baghdad is different, everything in Baghdad is difficult to be attainable, oil is expensive, fuel is expensive and no electricity as if they want to kill the Iraqi people slowly. (xxx) called me yesterday to tell me that Iraqi national guards found 51 corpses only in Baghdad! it is something I can't hold it anymore,we used to here a corpse here or there but not this large number, you know each month they found fifties of corpses, last November they have found more than 1000 body(the explosion of Alsaadr was about 500 body).I left my neighborhood crying when I saw the Alhuriya refugees' tents who left their houses after they had burnt by some armed militias...Do you know what does it mean when somebody burn your house and dismiss you under the threat of arms out of your neighborhood to live in a tent in this cold December, there are many children ,old men and women and young girls crying all the time refusing any help to keep their dignity high...it is unfair...they are refugees in their country!
