Air war against has come to Ariha. Videos, photos, and on the ground reports tally at least 40, perhaps as many as 60 civilians killed in the November 28, 2015 Russian bombing of the city.
Ariha is a town in northern Syria, administratively part of the Idlib Governorate, located south of Idlib. Idlib has been mainly under control of forces opposed to Assad since May, but Ariha is not an ISIS stronghold. Russian jets hit the market and other targets. The the resultant 'collateral damage', i.e. death and destruction, ripped the community apart. This was no accident of targeting. The munitions were delivered by jet planes that could see the targets.
We could not verify the reports of cluster bombs used in the raid.
We can verify that this type of violence to quell violence kills more innocents than combatants. The U.S. should, at the least, condemn this easily avoidable murder of civilians.
